I love the colour choice - red + red + metallic.
I grabbed lots of my favorite paper, some fabrics, paints, stamps, glitter, metallic glue, ribbon and fabric paint and set to work coming up with ideas. I am always a big fan of the red paper doilies and us them a bit.The crane and Sanskrit paper was from Bondi Art Supply Shop which is a treasure trove of cool stuff. The gold origami paper was from a pack my friend bought back from Japan last year. The gold fabric paint was from my year 12 Design & Technology HSC project where I made a burgundy and gold wedding dress with my favorite poems written on the skirt. It's still going strong!
I forgot to take progress photos at the beginning. When I remembered, my phone kept turning off every time I I tried to take a photo, then the battery in the other camera when flat, my boyfriend's phone had no memory left but we finally got it sorted!!! Frustrating.
So the first short is the materials I thought of using and the paper layered on top of each other.
Back to the drawing board - stick to a feather and make sure it comes out red.
I drew another feather and used red acrylic and a white Liquitex paint pen to fill in the colour. I went back over the outline and filled in patterns with a black marker. Then I used the gold fabric pen to dot the red doilies and red metallic glue and a gold marker to dot the feather outlines.
I'm much happier with how this worked out.
