This month I offered to do a 2 week mosaic workshop for Jett and 14 of his friends at his home school group. It is a weekly workshop that offers all sorts of stuff from Cosmetic chemistry to Lego, maths to mosaics! I ran through the history of mosaics and talked about the different styles. We chose to use tiles, crockery, beads, buttons, shells and jewellery. I scrounged through Op Shops to find plates, bowls, mirrors, picture frames and got a couple of trays from Ikea. Freecycle offered up a stool and a coffee table. Tile shops were happy for me to take their damaged or discontinued tiles. I spent 12 hours smashing tiles and crockery. I have enough to run another course! The kids were really keen and came up with some great stuff. I really enjoyed my first time teaching and had some great feedback.
