Summer of Colour 5 is all about painting by numbers. The idea is that each week Kirstin at http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.com.au/ gives a colour palette and we can make what ever our heart desires. Once we have done it, we upload it to her facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/116928415059733/?fref=ts for everyone to see. I wanted to come up with a theme to stick to each week. Last year it was geometrics and this year I have decided on feathers. I originally thought of painting onto an actual feather but ended up with this. I stared off drawing the outline of a feather which isn't actually the shape of a peacock feather, it is longer, kind of a hybrid. You can still recognise the eye. I tested out the colours I'd picked - navy, turquoise and apple. I started to outline in black marker and added more watercolours. I added more details to the feather to give it texture, added a navy ribbon and more watercolours as a border. And viola!
